Chief of Department
Nick joined in February 2009 and quickly became a qualified firefighter and EMT basic. In 2012 Nick ran for Lieutenant of Engine Company and Won,2012-2014 Engine Lieutenant2014-2016 Truck Lieutenant2016-2018 Truck Captain2018-2021 2nd Assistant Chief2021-2022, 1st Assistant Chief 2022-2023 and I currently hold the position of Chief of Department
Thomas Devaney
1st Assistant Chief
Tom was sworn into the East Williston Fire Department on March 6, 1995. Shortly thereafter, he became a QF, and was qualified to chauffer the ladder truck. Tom completed his EMT-B in 1996 and EMT-Critical Care in 2001. He has remained certified by NYS DOH to date. Tom is also qualified as a Motor Pump Operator, a Hazmat Technician – Specialist and Assistant Fire Inspector. Tom has served in the Truck Company both as Lieutenant and Captain, before being elected Assistant Chief. Tom also serves as a Trustee and Past President of the Volunteer & Exempt Firemen's Benevolent Association of East Williston, Vice-President of the Nassau County Firefighters Emerald Society and Commissioner of the Mineola Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Inc. Tom resides with his wife Kristen and four boys: Ryan, Collin, Connor and Aidan.
Robert Batterson
2nd Assistant Chief
Robert was sworn into the East Williston Fire Department on September 2nd, 2013. After completing his initial firefighter training, he became an EMT in 2015. Rob served as department Engineer from 2017 to 2019, Lieutenant of the Truck company from 2019 to 2021, and Captain of the Truck Company from 2021-2023. In April of 2023, he was elected to the position of 2nd Assistant Chief in the footsteps of his Father, Uncle, and Grandfather.
